Lovely volleyball. Passable Elbow Coffee. Nice lunch and here we are at 1:30 already.
Yesterday at lunch we were talking about my phone and the one I traded in and the others. I have an original Pixel that I bought used and have just hung on to because it still works. And a Pixel 7Pro that has a shit battery and a crack at the bottom of the screen. I'll hang on to it because it kinda a little bit still works.
Myrna quipped "why don't you give it to me?" And I quipped back "because you never turn yours on. you don't need a better one, you need one that is on!"
This morning, as elbow coffee was getting started, she came over and put phone in front of me and said 'test it, and you will see it's on!" She was so proud. At the end of elbow coffee I sent her a text and she actually thought to look. And saw it. We discussed when you text and what happens and I had her pick out a tone. "You will only get this once so if you aren't near your phone you won't hear it." And then we picked out a call ring. She had an old phone as an option and she loved that.
Hers is a smart phone for old people. They used to be Jitterbugs and now they are Lively. It's actually perfectly adequate.
I would consider teaching a 92 year old how to actually fold cell phone usage into her every day life a pretty excellent achievement but Myra's smarter than the average 92 year old.
I made the most pleasing discovery last night. Besides Jeopardy, the one thing I miss from not having a full channel stream, is House Hunters on HGTV. It's just mindless and an enjoyable watch that I don't have to even follow a plot for. Yesterday I discovered that HGTV has compiled GREAT House Hunters episodes for You Tube. I first found one - 2 hours of House Hunters in Manhattan. No commercials! And there are more. I'm very jazzed about this.
Also, word on the street is that Jeopardy is, very soon, announcing a streaming service. I hope it's not Netflix but I'll join whatever they do.
My realtor who is renting my condo has not been too forthcoming with updates. In fact, what I know now, I know from Christian (who lives directly below him). So today I sent him an email hoping to get an email in return but, of course, got a 'may I ring you?' and then, before I could answer, a call. PEOPLE - emails call for email replies!!!
I did not want to hear his tale of woe. I just want to know what his plans are. But, of course, I got to hear his trailer of woe. And it appears as if he will be renting until probably December. He has one unit for sale in the building. It's got a way too high a price. He said they got an offer last week but it was too low. The couple who own the unit are certified whack jobs so no telling what is really going on but, hey, an offer is an offer. Maybe mine will sell by Easter.
On the up side, my taxes should be really straight forward this year!
Time to send a text to Myrna and tell her I'm going out to puzzle. Let's see if she hears the ding.
