I had high hopes for last night's a capella men's chorus concert and boy, did it live up to my hype! They were fabulous. They had a thoughtful program of standards and popular and home made and they delivered beautifully. I'm used to choruses that, if they have movement, are choreographed to move together. These dudes had clearly been told to do what feels good and they turned out to be a joy to watch as well. The words were clear and the harmonies were woven expertly. They were young and old and small and big. I hope they come back again.

And not altogether changing the subject here, I am in the middle of the most fascinating book. It is a massive departure from my normal reads. I think I found it on some Must Read list but I cannot even remember for sure. Small Rain by Garth Greenwell. It's a page turner except I'm listening to it. And it's read by the author which, usually, I hate but this time no. I listened to it for five hours yesterday. I could not stop. It's about a torn aorta, poetry and music. And the music part describes music in a way I had never heard of before. I used what I learned in listening last night. Fascinating.

I didn't pay much attention when I selected it and thought it was non fiction but learned, after I put it down yesterday, that it's a novel and now I'm wondering if I feel differently about the whole experience. So weird. I've read all my life but never been as tangled or twisted by a book as I am by this one. For the first time ever, I wished I belonged to a book club so I could discuss this with others who have read it. And I still have 5 hours and 37 minutes to go.

The weather has taken a gray and cool turn which, is perfection, in my book.

I got my phone packed and on its way back to Google. It should get there Tuesday and so I'm hoping to get my refund by the end of the week. I'll send back the watch tomorrow so that refund should be a few days later. I'm nearly as much interested in the money as I am in getting shed of all this tracking of stuff to make sure nothing falls in the cracks.

I think I'll see if Myrna wants to Goodwill today.

The Shelf as of last night.

This morning only four are left. It tickles me that the ones with the wild colors, particularly the wild hair colors, always seem to go first.

You have piqued my interest re: the book! Seeing as you are the person who turned me on to Mary Roach, I trust you. *scurries off to find it*

The book is not available here yet but I ordered it. It sounds really fascinating! When I have read it, we can discuss it if you want... I have no idea how to do that, as I have never been part of a book club either. It seems so pretentious to me :D

I wonder if news about the dolls has spread to other areas/wings/halls of your place. People may be wandering through from complete other sections all through the night. So fun :)

Except your blue-haired girlie. As she has the darker skin (wool?) tone, I've been keeping an eye on her, hoping your neighbours aren't a bunch of racists.
