I have learned to zip it...
Sep. 14th, 2024 02:30 pmThis morning's elbow coffee was hilarious. The University of Washington is playing Washington State University today in the annual Apple Cup. Everybody except me is living or dying for this game. Downstairs is all decorated in both schools' colors. And it's all the talk.
This year's TV broadcast of the Apple Cup is, apparently, only available on Peacock. So the discussion began about Peacock. No one in the group (except silent me) has access to Peacock. They have no idea how to get Peacock or even what it is. Joan allowed as how you could get it through Comcast but it required a phone call and no one wants to call Comcast. Richard said that Louise (another resident, not part of our elbow) had it but only because her daughter set it up for her and it was really expensive and only on her phone.
Had anyone asked me, I would have explained. But, no one did so I kept my trap snapped shut. Tight. Trying to convey the concept and availability to this group would have been far more complicated and fraught with peril than trying to explain the origins of Druid magic.
Today's lunch special was roasted duck chops over asparagus and fingerling potatoes. It was so weird and freakin' delicious. Some days they just knock it out of the park. And today was one of those days.
I had to drop off an Amazon return at UPS. I almost didn't even ask Myrna - we've been out nearly every day this week and I could not imagine she would want to go again but I mentioned it and she asked if we could stop at her bank so we did. I was so glad I asked. She can manage well without a car but things like a trip to the bank become a major PIA. So easy for me to fix that.
OMG my nephew moved to a new town for a job promotion. He's finally got his own office and he's so excited. But the town he had to move to is a town of 5,000 people. He just reported that the closest Amazon return is an hour away. That is a hardship that I could not live with. Holy moly.
Now I think I'll put my feet up and watch some TV and knit and be mindfully grateful for my grid.

You didn't offer to host an Apple Cup watch party at your place? LOL I do not blame you one bit!
