A Northwest Miracle
Sep. 15th, 2024 11:56 amOur sun is not bright or hot enough and mostly - like 99.9% - I am grateful but that means that good tomatoes are just not possible. But I came very close today.
My friend, Martha, gave me a tomato out of their pea patch a week ago.

Most people around here grow the tiny or small tomatoes but this mother was a Tomato. It was not nearly ripe. I was afraid it would never be so because no sun. But I gave it the best possible chance. Today it looked and felt ready. And turns out it was.
I give you Tomato Porn.

It did not have the flavor of one grown in Georgia or South New Jersey BUT the color and texture was there and the flavor was good enough to at least remind you of what those others taste like. Best I've had in years.
On white bread with mayo and salt. YUM.

Date: 2024-09-16 02:25 pm (UTC)I've noticed when visiting during the summer that many of the Brooksby garden plots have thriving tomato plants (both big and little types), and they seem to be doing very well for the most part.
