Urgent Care (but not for me)
Sep. 25th, 2024 04:47 pmMyrna left a note on my door this morning to come see her and so I did. Just after that last entry, actually. She said she was going to Urgent Care to make sure she didn't have a UTI. She wanted to know if she couldn't get a ride with Timber Ridge would I take her. I begged her to let me take her and promised exemplary service. She said ok and we left about 30 minutes later.
Her Urgent Care is part of a large medical chain and is pretty convenient with liberal hours. They made quick work of signing in and then we waited. It was a very pleasant wait in a pleasant space and we had a lovely visit. She's so interesting and interested.
They took her in and probably had her for 30 minutes and then she came out with a prescription. So we went off to QFC where the pharmacist was very nice and efficient. The prescription was for one single pill. If her symptoms aren't gone in a week come back for another one. Wild. Oh and her insurance didn't cover it so she had to pay the $6.00 out of pocket.
And we got back home in time to meet up with Hazel and John for lunch.
But, meanwhile... Virginia Mason, where my new primary care physician is, has no urgent care here in Issaquah. There are several options but I sure liked the Overlake one we went to today. I did some research and they take a bunch of insurance and have a 'get in line' online option.
Myrna was just here* and said that she read all the instructions and it mentioned blood thinners. She said the doctor had not asked about blood thinners so she didn't quite know what to do. "So I called and explained the question and the person who answered said "hold on a minute" and the next thing I knew, I was talking directly to the doctor!!" She was impressed and I am, too.
*She actually popped in to complain about Joan. Joan doesn't do the puzzle the way Myrna likes and it cracks me up when she bitches about it. "I get so frustrated, I just leave and hope she's not there when I get back."
Plus she says she feels better. We have a return appointment a week from tomorrow just to double check. You don't wanna fuck with a 92 year old's health and I'm sure glad they didn't.
The special at lunch today was Catfish, coleslaw and french fries. It was delicious but filling. I think it's going to be cereal or half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner.
Oh! and I made the most interesting discovery. Someone on Youtube - last night it was a guy from Ohio and today it was a woman whose whole account, except for this, is in Arabic - posts the whole Jeopardy episode, sans commercials, every day. It's removed within hours but if you catch it, which I have for the last two days, it's fabulous!
Maclemore, who has been the darling of all Seattle sports teams forever - raising flags and singing national anthems and throwing out pitches and pucks - has now managed to get himself on the NFW list of all those teams. North Carolina does not seem to mind a porn site Black Nazi but Seattle ain't holdin' no truck with a rich rapper who says stupid shit at a Palestinian rally.
Yah gotta love politics.
