Thumb ouch

Last Christmas, Myrna's daughter gave her a 'smart' watch. It was not that smart but it recorded steps and sleep and that's all she wanted. BUT the band/clasp were a royal pain in the ass. Also the charging was getting difficult. I figured out I could remove the band and replace it. But replacement bands were a guess. I found one that looked good and ordered it. I got the original band off but the new band wouldn't fit. It was oh so close but nope. And then I could not get the original band back on. It had one of those tiny pins with the little ball you push down with your thumbnail. One side, yes. The other side no. Finally I figured out that the divot on the watch itself was ripped and would not hold the pin ever again. But by that time, both of my thumbs had bits where the nail was separating from the skin and that fucking hurts, man! (One is better this morning but the other is still screaming.)

I felt really horrible about breaking her Christmas present from her daughter but it was broken. On the up side, it's Amazon sale days. There are a lot of options under $20 for a nice watch that will track sleep and steps. And some look like replacement bands are easy. (She wants one like mine - with a magnetic clasp.) So I ordered up some options. I'll return the rejects and, hopefully, we can find one that will work with the magnetic band.

I'm still obsessing over health insurance and probably will until the 15th when the new plans come out and I can see the details. At least I was able to change my Primary Care Physician with Humana. The doctor I wanted was not listed but another at her same office was so I switched to him so worst case, if I have to keep the insurance I have, 1. I will have insurance and 2. I can at least stay at the same clinic which is down the road here.

Oh! I got an email yesterday from Erica in the Fitness Center. She's adding the Aqua Yoga class!! Mondays from 2-2:45! Not my favorite time slot but, hey, I'm just glad to have the class. It starts on Monday, October 28. I'm jazzed.

Also yesterday I got an email from the Activities Director. Someone had told her about my shelf and wreath and taken photos for her and she wanted to know if she could use them in the weekly newsletter. She's not the sharpest tool in the drawer. And her contributions to the newsletter are generally confusing and weird. Like the time she featured Judith's quilt made from the t-shirts of all her marathon running in Hawaii. She had a picture of Judith and the quilt (except you couldn't really make out much of either) and the story about the marathons - all without ever mentioning Judith's name.

So while I honestly do not mind being in the newsletter, I am sure she's going to misrepresent me and/or my giveaway. But there is really no way to say no that she will be able to handle so I said ok. OTH a lot of people don't read the thing that closely.

At one point yesterday, the basket was entirely empty. Hence, the post-it.

We may pop over to Costco after lunch today. I'm finishing up Slow Horses and Bad Monkey (Apple) on TV. And have a very interesting book going so lots of entertainment to knit by.
