Painful divorce
Oct. 24th, 2024 01:39 pmWhoever set Myrna up when she moved in here 7 years ago, made sure she had a biscillion TV channels and a lovely DVR and her own internet. At the time, I suspect, that at least the wifi was not too robust and maybe the TV. And Myrna has money so no big deal really.
Except cut to today when she's still paying and has never recorded a thing, only watches 2 channels and only logs onto her computer once a day. She gets her wifi and her TV for free. But she's still paying Comcast $180.
She does have a landline with Xfinity (Comcast) that she wants to keep. Probably cost her $30 for the service and the hardware.
Her TV access is different than mine so I want to get Timber Ridge's help with her TV hookup. But, when I do, then we'll fix that bill!
Meanwhile I called to cancel my own Comcast today. I had a simple internet account. I got someone really quickly and explained that I wanted to cancel my account. Four different transfers and 35 minutes later, the deed was done. I have a confirmation number but not the promised email. The woman who finally closed the account said there would be a $10 cancellation penalty but she would give me $14 credit. WTMajorF????
Myrna's cancellation is going to be nasty. But, worth it.
Ahhhh I just got the email but it is worded in such a way that the fight could still be on. I did check my account online and it shows a credit of $14.19. What a random amount. Stay tuned.

Date: 2024-10-24 09:05 pm (UTC)I honestly figured I would miss cable tv when I cut the cord - especially since I've had tivo/dvr for 20+ years - but honestly I haven't missed it at all! And I do not miss the cable bill! Especially since work pays for my internet connection :D
