I got my healthcare shit finally nailed yesterday. I had Humana Advantage for years because it's what my doctor's clinic liked. It worked until I moved and my little system crumbled. First the doctor, then Humana - nothing worked and there was no bandaid for it.

Time to start fresh which wasn't that easy. Primary Care Providers are not hanging around street corners here lookin' for biz. When I started looking last Spring, there were none in Issaquah who were open to seeing new patients. After much work, I finally snagged one. And, bonus, I really like her.

Then I discovered that her very large clinic and Humana were in contractual battles. Humana dropped them. Fuck Humana. So I found an insurance agent who spelled out all my options and explained everything. Turns out I am not eligible for Medicare supplement insurance so I have to have Advantage. Which is fine as long as I stay reasonably healthy. Advantage is also way cheaper as it cost me $0 out of pocket every month for health coverage and my drugs are covered %100.

My agent went over my Advantage options and we settled on a UnitedHealthCare plan. I have to apply (which I did) and be accepted (which is in process) but I was able to register on their website which is already far better than Humana's. And their perks are more in line with me than Humana's and my preferred pharmacies and doctors are all in their network. So whew. That year long tussle may be at an end.

Today's big project is going to be Myrna's Comcast. She is paying Comcast $180 a month for TV and internet that she does not need. I got her computer set up on Timber Ridge internet. BUT, her wall cable TV network situation is very different from mine so I am meeting with Brandon - the Timber Ridge TV/IT guy - this morning to get her set up for Timber Ridge TV. I think I could figure it out on my own and probably should. Brandon is a bit of a situation. He does know more than the average resident about technology but that's not a high bar and he's very easily distracted and s l o w. But, he may well know more about the TV situation and be able to do it more efficiently than I would. I'm meeting him at 10. Myrna will be at her exercise class. She doesn't want to be there anyway.

Yesterday she brought me her remote and said 'my bedroom TV is broken'. So we went to look. She had it on the wrong input. Then she handed me a DVD and asked 'can you make this play?' She has a very fancy (for its day) very old DVD/CD player. But it is hooked up properly. It had been years since I even touched a DVD player so it took me a minute to find the right buttons to even get the drawer open and get the thing started. Someone had taken a compilation of family photos and added music and made a family video. It was very old but it still worked and she enjoyed watching it.

And it's laundry day. And that's about it for plans.

I've kind of lost my lap swimming mojo and am enjoying my lazy non-volleyball mornings. The mojo will come back. I'm particularly enjoying the dark. It will be gone again next week. Just now daylight is breaking over the mountains and the sky there is striped pink and baby blue. It's a pretty amazing view from this table.

I heard a rumble about the lack of cats on the shelf so I've got one out there and another almost ready.

Not that it matters - but I've had UHC Medicare for three years now, and have been beyond pleased with them. I use their app all the time, and occasionally have to use the web page because it has more, detailed information whereas the app does not. This year, I thought about switching and looked at Humana. Oh heck, no! My specialist copay would have been higher than UHC and prescription costs were more, so I said "no" to them.

I hope that you are pleased with UHC. I have heard a lot of complaints about them over the years, but at least for me, I've only ever had one issue and it was promptly fixed before I even had a chance to call them!
