A better wrinkle

Her brother just called me to get an update. They have not seen each other in years but she asked me to call him last week to tell him the haps and we had a lovely chat. So when he called today, I told him that Eric was not happy with me and why and that I had left her in his care. He asked all the right questions - does Eric think you are stealing money from her? Yes, that's exactly it - and then proceeded to thank me over and over again and to apologize for his nephew. It was kind of sweet. I told him that Eric was doing what he thinks is best and Myrna was in good hands anyway.

He cracked me up when he said "Heck, even if you did steal her money, she'd be fine with that - she wouldn't care at all." And, honestly, he's right!

We agreed to keep in touch. I don't really feel bad about the whole thing but still chatting with him made me feel better.

I am glad you were able to get a laugh in, and that Myrna is doing better. What craziness! Hopefully her son is able to figure everything out.

We all know the truth. You stepped up when no one else was to make sure your friend was taken care of. Now at least she is being taken care of and you can rest and take care of yourself.

I would be bummed out by the whole thing. It doesn't feel good to be misunderstood and to be accused of doing bad, when you were doing something selfless and caring.

I hope he straightens things out with Eric. I get why Eric might be suspicious, given there's so much fraud around these days, but it's just plain annoying to be so misunderstood after everything you've done.

Honestly, in Eric's shoes, I would be glad that my mom has a local friend who is willing and able to help her out with everything. I wonder if he's lashing out at you out of filial guilt or something…

It sounds like Myrna's brother is on your side, at least.

Oooof. I fall off the internet for ONE busy week and WOW did you have a busy and eventful week. I'm glad Myrna's brother understands and I hope Eric comes to as well. Either way, YOU remain a ROCKSTAR.
