I wrote up a bullet list for my new CPA. My detailed contact info, and an outline of my finances for this year and next (my two most complicated tax years). This morning I realized I had forgotten to add the rent and the RMD withholding. My real estate agent has been paying me rent each month. He has said several times that he will not be reporting this payment to the IRS. His implication was that I could just treat it as under the table income. Which, honestly, I would except for I don't want to get caught again and I want everything above board for my new CPA. So... ugh.

When I got the Required Minimum Distribution, I made a note of the amount of tax withheld. And then lost the fucking note. Ameriprise statements are crafted with two goals in mind - kill as many trees as possible and arrange the data so no one can find anything. It took me forever to dig out the damn amount withheld. But I did. And added it to the bullet list.

It dawns on me just now that I should prepare myself in case this whole new CPA thing is a bust. What if I hate him? What if he turns me down? I got no answers but I need to know that it could happen.

Volleyball was so so today. All three of the most annoying players were there. And so the play was not as physical but it was better than not.

Ahhh John just popped his head in to say they were going to Costco so won't be here for lunch. Excellent. I have a free pass to do what I want. John and Hazel are sweet as they can be but without Myrna, they can be tedious - and every day is just too much. So a day off is nice.

People here do not know their passwords. It's hilarious. They get into their computers and cellphones and networks every day but according to them, it's by magic.

When the Timber Ridge wifi went out, those who have personal Comcast accounts for wifi, have working SSID's but they are all locked down. Many would be delighted to share their signal with me if 1. they knew what sharing meant and 2. they knew their fucking passwords. Their SSIDs make it easy to figure out who's network is whose. So I asked... 'would you mind sharing your network password until Timber Ridge comes back on?' 'I have a network password?' 'I actually don't know what you are asking.' 'Don't you have a network password?' Or hands me a stack of little pieces of paper 'is it one of these?'

Every single time. Hazel has an old Samsung tablet which still works good but the Google Play is asking for John's password. 'You need to enter your Google password.' 'Do I have one?'

Brendon, the guy whose job it is to provide TV/internet support to the residents, is kind of a doofus. BUT every day I respect him more and more for just showing up. He deals with this shit 40 hours a week. Plus, he stopped me in the hall the other day to ask about Myrna. So He is my favorite doofus of all time.

Today is house cleaner day.

Timber Ridge is right now wrapped in a lovely blanket of fog. I'd forgotten how foggy many of the mornings are here from last year. I love the fog.

I think I'll go down and retrieve the cat food delivered yesterday. They will bring it up eventually but I need the steps.

That's the conundrum of tech support anyone who is really good at it, isn't so good with people.

If they have the modem in their unit, all you need to do is look on the back/bottom and there will be the network name and password. Snap a picture with your phone.

iPhones (I know you don't have one) allow a network password to be shared without being revealed. It's pretty handy.

I'm surprised the little bits of paper aren't stuck to the device - but then that would require knowing a) they existed at all and b) which was which!
