testing testing testing
Dec. 11th, 2024 08:13 amLast night we were talking about getting ready for the next power outage. Like me, Steve has laid in a big battery with all the outlets. But, he said, for some reason his ac/dc outlets were not working but the rest worked fine.
I got mine specifically for the AC/dc outlets but I had only charged it up and tried the flashlight but had run no other tests. So this morning I plugged in my waterpic and nada. It took some fiddling around to actually figure out how to power up the battery. And then, I couldn't get it to work. I plugged in the water pic and nothing. I plugged the waterpic back into the outlet and nothing. Fuck. I kept plugging and unplugging and trying this and that and finally, it all works. Whew. I would have been ok with returning the battery but I did not want to replace my waterpic! Anyway now I have an idea of how it works and what to do and am really glad I did not wait for a power outage to find out. Thanks, Steve!
I slept longer and harder than either my Fitbit or my bed thinks I did. What the fuck do they know anyway?
I am going back to Chewy. When I switched the cats to non-prescription food, I started ordering from Amazon just because and for no good reason. But, now Amazon has missed promised delivery dates two times with this food. I am not waiting for the third strike. Chewy has never missed one single time ever.
And speaking of cats... When I moved here, vets were still in high demand. It was very difficult to get to a vet in Seattle. My regular vet let me in because I was a frequent flyer but short of that the wait was weeks. When I moved here, it wasn't a whole lot better. The vet I picked was cats only and still difficult to get into. Their website said they were opening to new patients but only on a limited bases. Even so, when they did Biggie's surgery, I never even saw the vet. It was drop off only.
Skip to now. When I took Biggie in, she started him on a medicine that allows me to feed him regular food instead of the pricey prescription food. But, she wanted to test him in 4 or 5 weeks to make sure the dosage was working. That time period is up this week/next week-ish and they have sent me text after text and emails about scheduling the urinalysis. Finally yesterday they called me. BACK OFF PEOPLE!!! I scheduled an appointment for a week from Friday and now have gotten two reminders already. Holy fuck. I'm about ready to go back to 'no vets available'.
No plans today. From here to Christmas it's some kind of Christmas event every day - singing and employee party and more singing and a concert and a play. I'm over it all. Fortunately, I do not have to go to any of it. And, Myrna won't be guilting me into any of it either. Today is the employee party. Residents bake cookies and they have a box of homemade cookies for each employee. Today, the residents will line up on both sides of the main hallway and the employees will walk the gauntlet getting high 5's and then there is a party. It's a lovely tradition that everyone looks forward to. They do not need me.
