Everybody's business is everybody's business. More so on this little floor than most, I suspect. And because we have Joan who has no other reason for living than to be up in everyone's business always. Also everyone seems to have acquired an advanced medical degree in their later years. They all know exactly how to fix xxx even when the doctor's are baffled. It's really pretty astonishing. But, the good news is they are happy, to share and will mow you down the hallway to do so.

Bonny, Noelle and Joan were having a standup meeting in the hallway when I was trying to escape into my apartment. It was here that I learned that Gail (of Gail and Roger) is, maybe, might be having back surgery. Gail and Roger are the couple whose daughter came into Myrna's when I was there one day in early November, and asked if we thought Gail and Roger were ready for assisted living. Roger can't hear anything and can't remember to give Gail his medication. Gail can hear fine but her back has been excruciatingly painful for a few months and she has zero short term memory. I mean zero. She has maybe 15 minutes or so and then it's all wiped clean. They are 90. They do have two daughters who are very attentive.

Bonny, Noelle and Joan, of course, know what's best and they think the daughters should sue the doctor (which one - since they have carted Gail off to a gazillion - is unclear).

But the other news is that Myrna's daughter and son in law are here for a week. They got here last night. They are staying in one of the guest rooms (??? why not stay in Myrna's apartment??? But good to know that there are guest rooms avail for last minute stays at Christmas).

I am not a fan of either the daughter or her husband and am not looking forward to seeing them. Or talking to them. Or being accused by them, if that's the way it goes. Apparently Myrna (daughter tells Joan) is the same. That's another doctor (??? she doesn't even have a doctor!) Bonny/Noelle/Joan want to sue. You'd think they had a lawyer in their pocket with all the lawsuits they want to file.

I finally got past the triumvirate down to my door only to see Jim from across the hall leaving his apartment to go get dinner. I advised him to take the alternate route which he did quickly and gratefully.

Life in the cult but also weird time of year. I'm ready for January 1 and back to regular. Yeah, I know, I've got a while yet.

I'm watching Day of the Jackal. It's a good story with good characters and good actors but holymothehrofgod the production group need to be just shot. The series is ten 1 hour episodes. If they spliced out all of the minutes of characters gazing across some landscape with very loud annoying music playing or characters strolling with very loud annoying music playing, they could have a very nice, watchable five 1 hour episode series.

But beggars can't be choosers during the holidays. At least it's not all red, green with bells and star crossed lovers finding their way back to each other under snow on Christmas Eve.

My house cleaner did not come yesterday (her boss came by in the morning to tell me and to offer me today at 1:30 instead which I took). It worked out fine because I have a carpet stain I'd like someone to tend to and she was the right person to ask. Hopefully, she'll get it cleaned today, too. It is not in a spot where a throw rug would work easily, so my finders are crossed.

Shelf. I shot this last night as always. The morning the basket it empty. I have such a funny relationship with that shelf basket. On mornings, like today, when it's empty, I think 'fuck!' they took them all and now there's nothing. On mornings where the basket is just like it was OR when dolls/cats/monsters stay in the basket for more than a day, I think 'fuck!' don't they like these? what's the matter with these? Is everyone just over the whole thing... and then two breath's later the basket is empty again.

The basket on the shelf is a nice little passion for me to have.

I watched The Jackel in fits and starts. I'd drop off mid episode and then watch one and a half the next day. It was an irritating waste of excellent actors and good story. They were definitely filling 10 hours with insufficient story to do so. And, yeah, most of the music is atrocious. And all the more annoying for the wasted potential. It will be interesting to see what they do with the next season.

So funny how far the Forsyth book has gone. Somewhat like Ian Flemming's stuff.

Actively avoiding anything political, governmental, and seasonal definitely narrows my consumption of the world.

Is it January yet?

Similarly, pretty much every cop show I watch (and I watch a lot of them) has at least one scene of people chasing other people either on foot or in cars for several minutes, which makes me think that the writers have trouble coming up with enough material to fill the time slot.

Recommend "Black Doves" if you're looking for something to watch. Six 1 hour episodes, all killer no filler.
