Odds and ends

The good news is that the carpet spot cleaner guy came today and found five spots on my carpet. He totally obliterated four of them but the main offender is still pretty offensive. I mean maybe if you didn't look at the carpet you wouldn't see it and maybe it will be better when it dries but also maybe it won't ever be better. So $36 later, I have a rug coming from Amazon to cover it up. That, too, might be a lost effort but at least I can return it it if it is.

No sign of Hazel or John today. They probably went shopping which they do sometimes. I think maybe the days of lunch with them are pretty much over which is fine. It was fun. But I can deal. Taking Myrna out of the equation makes a big difference.

No word from - Myrna's daughter which just reinforces my feeling that they believe her brother - that I stole from her mother. Whatever. I do miss Myrna but I don't need to spend my energy defending myself against them. I am glad that I helped her when I could and when she needed it. I'm sorry it ended this way. But, fuck 'em.

The guy who came in to spot clean my carpet was very nice and I thought it was odd when he came back to greet the house cleaner when she got here but then, he showed me his phone. His translate app said "My wife is filling in for your cleaner today but she is afraid of cats." I tried to get Biggie out of there figuring Julio would follow. Biggie stayed with me in the elbow for a while but then came back here but didn't mess with her so it was fine.

While in the elbow, he stopped to pose for his Christmas Card Shot.



I think I'll dig some steak frites out of the freezer for dinner.

I'm sorry for how things are going with Myrna and her family. You obviously brightened up her life and helped her so much, above and beyond. I hope she's okay and that your friendship can resume.

If I had to guess what was happening re Grand Theft Myrna at the family's end, my best shot would be that they don't think you did anything, I think the cops would have been in touch long since if they did, as it seems unlikely to me that the family would suspect you but just let it drop. They'd want to find out what happened to the money, and I bet they know by now where it's gone to (i.e. not your account). I suspect the reason they haven't contacted you is that they just don't care about Myrna's friends and whether she'd like to see them sufficiently to do the work of reaching out. In addition, and this is probably a stronger reason, they may well be embarrassed about the cross-questioning as well.

I continue to be sad about the Myrna situation. But, as you say, you were her guardian angel when she needed it. You gave her a lot of happiness in the past year.

Yes, please, January 2 come as quickly as possible. Normal every day life is good.

Surely those people have been able to figure out by now that whatever money of Myrna's was spent was only spent on things she needed to pay or that she bought herself.

I'm so sad to read of the treatment you've received from Myrna's family, and that she hasn't stepped in to clear up any misgivings. She was lucid enough to request and accept your help consistently and to provide a token of recompense by having you use her credit card to pay for parking. She should be lucid enough to set the record straight. I think it's much more likely that her family is feeling guilty in both their inactivity with their mother, and their treatment of you.
