Other bits
Sep. 5th, 2006 04:02 pmMy friend Scott is getting jazzed about coming to visit. Now he's talking about bringing his wife and landing here in the middle of the week. This place is not quite set up for 2 visitors for any length of time. He's saying they will likely get here the evening of Tuesday, 26th. If that's true, I suspect they will probably stay until Sunday. Not exactly a delight for me. But, at least with two of them, I can send them off on adventures without me. The fish bed is a single so I'll give it a try and they can have my bed. It will probably be fine.
Meanwhile after today, I'm turning into a commuter! I have a meeting in Redmond tomorrow and one downtown on Thursday. Friday morning I have a doctor's appointment. This is the exam one. But, it's only for like 40 minutes so I'm thinking internal and then some general poking and prodding, etc. After that, I have another meeting in Redmond. I've lost my commuter skills. It's not a huge deal to get organized enough to leave for an extended period of time. Do I have everything I need? Have I remembered to get dressed? Do I have gas in the car? Etc.
On the up side, I made the doctor's appointment for 8 a.m. so hopefully, I won't have to wait forever and should be out of there fairly promptly, I hope. And... all three business meetings include free lunch and I don't have a pile o' work that has to be put on hold while I galavant.
Now I think I'm going to hit the chaise, turn on the ballgame and make some ears. I finished up another teddy bear last night and when he was done, I thought 'gee, he looks funny...' And then it dawned on me, that I'd totally forgotten his ears! It's easier to put them on before I get him completely sealed but after market ears will work.
just a thought
Date: 2006-09-06 09:44 am (UTC)The mattress-only with no frame at all only cost a little more than $100 from a futon store. A single sized IKEA mattress (the ones that are top mattress only, with no box spring) would probably be the same effect or better on the floor...
But then again maybe the fish bed can't conceal something like that beneath...
I am a big beliver in not handing over my own bed to guests. I did that to be gracious to my parents the first time they flew down to visit me in my first post-college apartment. Then a got a double bed for my guest room soon after.

Date: 2006-09-06 03:47 pm (UTC)The photo isn't showing on my screen but it could be more computer problems left from yesterday - the link above shows fine... (The rest of the condo - at the time I finished the major makeover work last year is pictured here: http://www.susandennis.org/makeover/beforeandafter.htm.)
