Last night's chorus concert was really nice. They did this one bit in the middle where they explained how they built harmonies with demonstration and it was fascinating. The songs weren't too campy and it was fun.

Coming back, I ran into Myrna's daughter and her husband in the elevator moving more stuff. They looked exhausted and broken. I'd feel sorry for them if she was so hateful and he wasn't such an idiot and they weren't so tacky in handling all of Myrna's things. As it is, I hope they just pack it all in and get the fuck out.

I'm getting some, so far, gentle pressure to become a floor leader. Each floor has a leader and a vice-leader and a social leader and I'm not even sure what all else. Our floor leader has been leader for a while and is fading fast. The other positions are also empty or held by people who won't last. And no one is stepping up and so the pressure. I'd like to say that I'll do it when donkey's fly. BUT if I saw donkey's flying this morning, I still would not be the least bit - not the tiniest bit - interested in any of it. NFW ever is my level of interest.

Today is the food and beverage committee meeting. Martha thinks the food and beverage director is on the way out - I think it's just wishful thinking on her part. He is nobody's favorite but probably will be here a long time.

The allergy pills seem to be doing the trick as far as the running nose is concerned. But they are making me sleepy and drying out my mouth. So far not blowing my nose every 2 seconds is winning over the rest but only time will tell.

Yeah, I'd forgotten that Zyrtec can cause drowsiness. I've given up on Flonase and may give up on cetirizine too. I may try a month of Claritin.

Both [personal profile] jwg and I have chronic allergies, and we use over-the-counter generic chlorpheniramine maleate (used to be marketed under the brand name Chlor-trimeton, maybe still is), which according to something I vaguely remember reading is about as effective as Claritin. We take 4 mg tablets, which don't seem to make either of us notably any more drowsy than we already are, and they generally work. (The smaller does also means it can be taken at intervals as little as four hours.)

This is just a data point; everyone's allergies are different.

I'm pretty sure my experience of antihistamines is useless for you since I respond very well (and without being made sleepy!) to Zyrtec. If they continue to be drowsing maybe take at night instead?

Meanwhile, claratin and allegra are other options. Both have worked for stopping my hay-fever allergies but I can't take allegra - it makes me very nauseous. (This is NOT a normal side effect for it; ironically they've listed me as 'allergic' to it in my health records so as not to give it to me again. But anyway....)

I wonder what the floor leaders do. Do they get a crown?
