Home again home again
Sep. 6th, 2006 03:22 pmI am just not a spontaneous person. I'm good and efficient and well grooved in my rut but pull me out and I'm just close to non-functional. And it's very disconcerting. But, not fatal.
The meeting was good. I was not too enthused about this project going in. It just didn't seem interesting or fun or even worthwhile. I was so wrong.
I had never met these people I would be working for and with. My job on this project is to organize it and drive it. I keep track of what's due, when it's due, where it is, why it's done done yet, and why the production people don't have it yet. And probably then why the production people fucked it up and why it isn't on the site yet. I had never met the woman running the show. She's the one who specifically requested 'a Susan Dennis type'. But, turns out, she is more than just an excellent judge of character and talents... she's also smart and sharp and reasonable and respectful. Very cool. It is likely that this will take up about 30 hours of each of my weeks between now and at least the end of the year and probably well beyond.
Plus, I got lunch. Plus, there was an extra so I got dinner.
Plus... and here's the big plus... I don't have to go to the all day meeting tomorrow!! I did get a meeting tacked onto Friday afternoon that will, likely, land me in major traffic going home but that's ok. It's only once.
I realized on the way over that I had forgotten any reading glasses. So I started digging in the glove compartment which is narrow and deep and had not been opened in probably about 5 years. I could not believe the crap I pulled out of there. It was like an archaeologically dig. I did find some old reading glasses that were better than nothing.
But I also found cigarettes and a lighter and two very cool little screwdriver kits and a Carl Kasell air freshener that I have no memory of whatsoever. Where in the hell did that come from???
Ok, time to get back in the groove...

Date: 2006-09-07 12:43 am (UTC)And I am not saving the cigarettes for you. No. Not happening. Think of other things like what it will feel like to be 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 8 hours and 35 minutes. You can do it. Heck, the hard part is behind you!
