The elbow coffee I was looking to avoid turned out to be the best one ever! It was small, about a third of the regulars weren't there. But the conversation was fine and lively. Ingrid, who usually brings the convo down as fast as she can was thwarted on every several attempt and she bit a head off but it was Joan's and not mine. And then she actually made some non offensive and contributory conversation. Shocking.

But the amazing thing was that Myrna's daughter came out and told us how much Myrna loved the elbow coffee and how she would call after and talk about who was there and what was said and how much fun it was. And then she went on to thank us all for being such good friends to her mother. She said it all like a normal person would, with a smile and true gratitude. We were all shocked. Bonny asked how much more they had to do and it sounds like they will be gone by next Saturday. And then she thanked us again and went back into Myrna's apartment.

It was really a lovely and a kind thing to do and, hopefully, that will be the last interaction so the lingering taste will be a good one.

That would be so nice to end on that note.

The 100% ideal would be for her son to apologize to you for accusing you of being a thief, but that's scenario might just exist in my fantasies.

That is really sweet! I do hope it ends on that note.

That's a lovely thing to take away and a salutary reminder of who Myrna actually was before all the other rubbish obscured the situation.

Sounds like maybe all the hostility was from the son, and the daughter didn't want to undercut him to his face because Family Drama, but perhaps she's trying to convey that it really was all him and she regrets it.

Or perhaps not at all like that, ut it seems plausible.
