I like to be cold when I sleep. I envy those babies they put out in the snow for naps. In winter I open the window in my bedroom. In summer I crank the air conditioning up to refrigerator levels. But in spring, ugh. The heating/cooling system in this building is rather much of a mystery. If you go to the maintenance director, the head heating/cooling guy and the liaison and ask them each how to ensure it is always cold in my bedroom, you will get three different answers. Plus, a healthy dose of 'it depends'. Winter is the easiest to control but now we are sliding back into the unknown.

Last night, my comforter threatened to boil me alive. In the middle of the night, I got up and found a lighter quilt. But I'm not sure it's quite warm enough yet to use it comfortably. So today I need to dig around in my blanket stash and see if I can find something to get me through til a/c time.

This may involve a trip to the reuse shop, but I'd rather not spend the money. I've learned that buying blankets off the internet does not work for me. I need to feel.

We have wifi here throughout the whole building. It's good wifi, too. Those who worry excessively about privacy and security would cringe at the very thought of it but I love it. But, once in a while (I can think of maybe 5 times in the 16 months I've been here), it fails. Last night, it went on and off several times. Enough to knock my Echo devices off line so I had to reconnect them. Also the Google speaker. This latter is an original model and way too difficult to get back going again so I think my Google music and I are going to divorce.

John and Hazel's son gave them an echo for Christmas. I set it up for them and, shockingly, they actually use it. They can't really use it to do much. They have no smart appliances, of course and no phone so they can't even get help with lists BUT they love to ask it the weather in Belfast (where they are from) and all kinds of silly and not so silly questions. I'm guessing I'll need to get them restarted today.

Ok. blanket situation solved. My stash revealed the solution. It's one I got last year at the charity shop. It's a lovely quilt, a good weight, just ugly colors but that's ok. It will get me to summer. And, probably beyond.

And, then, when the condo sells...

Ok. The cats need breakfast Number Two and I need to exercise and then get dressed.

The shelf is loaded for Monday.

I have a bedjet and, since it does both heating and cooling under the blankets, it means that the bedroom temperature doesn’t impact me as much.

Percale sheets - the lower the thread count, the better.

If TR's climate-control system is like that in many large establishments (like most hotels and office buildings, and I believe this is also true of Brooksby), it's set up to do either heating or cooling, and whoever's in charge changes it from one to the other at specific times of the year. The weather doesn't care about this, so it's not always optimal.
