The Resident Update Meeting was interesting on several fronts. In the garages, they are going to switch from fob to license plate recognition which I think is great. They didn't exactly announce it clearly, they kind of backed into it saying that because of this, everyone will now have to have a front license plate.

Well... Way To Stir Up The Old People! Washington state requires front and back license plates. We are solidly in Washington state - not even close to a border. Out of the 500 odd residents, probably 5 have non-Washington license plates and probably only 1 of those has a legit reason for it. Many like Bonny next to me were 'I don't know if I even have a front license plate'. (She does.)

Anthony, who was at the mic, said clearly and crisply, we'll have plenty of information and communication out to you well before this all gets started. We're in early stages.

Of course, old people need to know NOW!!! And, this is a CRISIS of the highest level!!!!

It was pretty hilarious.

Very controversial, as it turns out, is the building clean up. A few weeks ago, Heather (the CEO) wrote that all elbows were to be cleared of resident belongings. Yesterday, she reiterated this. She explained that, at least for now, they were leveling back to Timber Ridge decor only. I think this is a great idea. Some of the elbows have gotten kind of trashy looking. One keeps their Christmas tree up all year around. While I appreciate the individuality expressed, you individuality may be very different from mine and I've often wondered what would happen if someone decided to put a cross on the elbow table or a Noah's Arc or a Ukrainian display or a holocaust one. Decoration by anarchy is always dangerous. We fought this battle at the condo and we owned that. We don't own Timber Ridge.

HOWEVER, turns out, Heather and I are pretty much alone on this issue. Everyone else is up in fucking arms over it. In a group of 8 this morning, I said 'I agree with Heather' and I was pummeled. I stood my ground but the shits going to fly.

In our elbow, we have a card table we use for puzzle pieces. It's going to have to go. Which is a huge PIA for me but I agree with the policy even there.

I haven't heard Biggie sneeze so far this morning but it is early. I went back to centritizine after spending most of yesterday blowing my nose. I didn't sleep great last night so I'll be sleepy all day anyway and at least it does stop the nose running which nothing else seems to do.

I just got notified today that the bicycle and pool table in our apartment block's common areas will be removed if still unclaimed.

Fairly close to me there's a retirement village which was built in 2007 on what us local residents knew was pretty much swampland. Surprise! Now the main building is sinking, with endless noisy and drastic remediation. If the Timber Ridge residents are staging a riot about their elbow tchotchkes, I can't even imagine how that news would gone down if it had happened in TR.

What is the reason for cutting back on the personal stuff? Is it health and safety?
