I slept soundly and long last night. And, weirdly, after Tuesday night's horrible sleep and even with an allergy pill, I was not sleepy all day. I think the allergy pill making me sleepy thing was just a getting used to it thing. That is my Professional Medical Opinion.

The laundry is now laundrying.

For those who asked, my cousin's trust was set up with no execution parameters. SteveTheLawyer has 21 years before he is compelled to complete the requirements and finish the distributions - so he has 18.5 years left. As simple recipients of the trust, we have no stand. Sam took the situation to a lawyer there and he said that in a decade or so, we might have a case for temporal negligence. Until then, only a schyster lawyer, who will charge us a bundle, would touch it.

Probably there will be lunch with Hazel and John today. They have had doctor appointments recently that have hosed up the schedule and I have enjoyed it. So, I think once a week lunch with them is enough and today is the day.

Time now to go get dressed and do my exercises (which I really have come to hate but, they seem to be working so I think shirking them would be a bad idea) and get the day started.

wow. just wow. That is fairly insane! I wonder how many people have trusts set up and think their estate is sorted out - but don't have any timelines built into it and will end up in a similar situation?

My own trust - doesn't have any timelines! Now - in my case, my brother is the executor and the beneficiary, and if he wants to sit around and not do anything - I don't care :D And because we are crossing country lines - my brother is in Canada and I'm down here in the US - I actually think he might be better off keeping the trust in place for a while, to figure out what the best plan is to get stuff sold off and funds migrated - or just rent out my house and collect cash :D

But if you have an executor who has a financial incentive to KEEP the thing open - SteveTheLawyer is undoubtedly collecting a fee for every month that he "manages" this trust - there is zero incentive for him to close it out any time soon!

21 years!? It's clear that estate lawyers wrote that law.
