There is an audiobook narrator by the name of Scott Brick. About half of the book listening world loves him and the other half hates him. I do not believe anyone is on the fence here. You want your narrator to match voice with the story. Scott Brick has one speed. If you look up the word 'melodrama' you will find that it is making even the most insignificant thing overly dramatic. That's Scott Brick. It is both exhausting and annoying to listen and automatically eliminates any book he narrates. Which is a shame. He is prolific. And only 59 so he's got years of ruining books ahead of him. BLARG.
I had a book I really wanted to read on hold at the library. I got notice that it was ready for me this morning but FUCK. It's read by Scott Brick so nope.
This just matches my mood. I've hit a string of getting bricked right and left. I'm trying like mad to find the bright side, to be grateful for what I have, to not worry until there is really something to worry about... but, honestly, it's an uphill slog right now. I feel like Glenda Gloom.
Two emails to two different people at my CPA's firm both asking for a simple acknowledgement of receipt and nothing. nada. So today I'll get into the car and drive over there and deliver the paper version of the PDF I sent them. It's not that big of a deal except it sure does not make me happy with them and I'll be even more unhappy when I get what I'm sure will be their gynormous bill.
And today is the day that SteveTheLawyer promised money/report. It's already mid-day there and so far nothing. I'm sure nothing is exactly what we will get.
While I'm out, I'll pop into Safeway for a few things that I cannot get in the little shop here.
And that will also give me a good excuse to duck out of lunch with John and Hazel. They are nice people but way too tedious for me to entertain alone daily. John is 88 and has never had any health issues to speak of. But now he's getting a little of this and a little of that and thinks he's dying. Hazel thinks he's fine, just scared. But I now know way more than I ever cared to about every single doctor, nurse, receptionist - starting with their ethnicity. They are all Asian, I can't understand what they are saying, why can't we get American ones? This from a guy who still has a very thick Irish accent. I'm sorry they are going through this but I'm also really tired of hearing about it.
Man, I am a composite of Glenda Gloom and Crabby Appleton.
I think I'll just get dressed and do my exercises and then head on out.
