Slow Day

I slept very long and very hard last night. 95 on my bed's app. That may be my personal best. So now it is nearly 9 and I'm still at my table internetting and finishing my coffee.

It just now dawned on me. After my father died, my Mom spent every morning in her apartment at a facility like this one sitting at the table by the window drinking coffee and reading the paper. I'm sure my brother got to this parallel instantly a year and a half ago but I am slow. She clearly had the right idea and I'm perfectly fine emulating her but I do think it's funny that I've now done it so long without even realizing it.

From my window, I can see the pea patches - or at least the large patch of them. There are four on the other side of the building but 12 here on this side. Each is assigned to a person or persons and they spend all the warmer months busying around them. A couple of my volleyball friends are lead pea patchers and talk has already begun. Just now I saw the first Resident With A Wheelbarrow. Next up Steve and Wally (volleyball dudes) will head out in Wally's truck to get shit to share with all and the real season will begin. I'll watch.

My only plans for the day are laundry. There are a couple of good things on the dinner menu this week so I'm trying out a new schedule of skipping lunch - rather, making lunch here - and getting dinner from downstairs. Changing it up a bit.

Now I need to get dressed and go pick up Bonny's newspaper before Joan discovers that it's there. Joan will assume that Bonny made no arrangements and get all stressed about it. Fortunately, for me, Joan sleeps late.

Are the peas used in the meals?
