One Day At A Time
Mar. 21st, 2025 08:14 amUsually One Day At A Time means waiting for something or getting over something or to something. But, right now I'm thinking for me, it means just that... one day and then the next day and then the next... I keep looking for a schedule, a plan but maybe the trick for me, right now, is no schedule, no plans.
Lunch every day with Hazel and John is pretty much over. Once in a while - maybe. But not every day. And going down to the dining room on my own isn't such an attractive deal since invariably, you get stuck when some random comes along and wants to share a table. I don't mind sharing a table. I do mind having to chit chat with old randos. And the lunch menu hasn't been that good recently.
And it takes up way too much time. Generally an hour or an hour and a half. I can make and eat lunch while I watch Jeopardy. And get back nearly all of that time.
Plus, that means dinner. This week, I've been ordering take out and it's been yummy and it means a trip down to the dining area to pick it up every evening which is excellent step wize and back wize since it means getting off the couch. But the menu isn't always that good so...
I think I'll be mixing it up for a while. A little of this, a little of that. After volleyball dries up, there may even be some swimming mixed in. I believe I have woven exercises into my daily rather successfully. And now I have an app to time and track me. And the exercises are keeping my back better.
I want a new plan for the dolls/monsters as well. No matter how many I put out at night, they are usually all gone before lunch, often before 9 am. Then my shelf is barren and boring all day. For now, I'm going to only put out 1 and bank the rest while I figure out a new scheme.
Last week when Bonny brought me her perishables, I took the banana and chopped it up and froze it. I love bananas with my ice cream, and wish there was a banana syrup or something similar but never could find one. So I thought next time I got a ripe banana, I'd try freezing. Well... I pulled out some banana pieces last night and popped them from the freezer to the top of my ice cream last night and it was perfect. I now have a new thing! I do need to get some chocolate syrup, tho.
I have a few chores to do this morning. And then who knows. One Day At A Time.
