Piddling the day away
Nov. 19th, 2002 11:19 amI have three big projects on hold. All waiting for one executive or another to make up their minds. So I am really just piddling the day away here.
As we all know... I watch too much TV. For several years I had this great little program that organized all my viewing. It was kind of a fancy spreadsheet. Every week I would download the latest listings and I could sort and search and tag and lots more. I would plan everything out and then print out my personal listings. This was also before I got TIVO so it was very helpful in programming multiple VCR's.
Alas about a year ago they shut it down. It needed an upgrade and was getting kind of clutzy to work with so I didn't miss it a lot but there are features that I did miss. Today I discovered that the UK version now has US listings!! It's not the same program but operates much the same way only much much better. http://www.digiguide.com/
I downloaded the trial and walked it through it's paces. I planned out what I need to record while I'm at Mom's and printed it out. Sweet. For $12 a year, I think I'll buy.
I also killed about an hour playing with various third party options for commenting on my knitting blog. I finally settled on a hosted option since I couldn't get any of the asp, php or cgi ones to work right. The hosted one seems to be ok. The jury is still out on the whole project, I think.

(no subject)
Date: 2002-11-19 11:26 am (UTC)NEVER!!!
Date: 2002-11-19 11:33 am (UTC)I'm only considering it for my knitting projects and maybe my book reviews. But no way could it even come close to replacing LJ.
However, an RSS feed is an interesting idea. I need to look into that.
