eBay auction turned out fine. Late-ish bidder with only 1 feedback won the bid but he paid up immediately. I hate PayPal's fees BUT on something like this, it's so worth it. $523 total. $16 in PayPal fees and probably another $15 in postal fees. I'm still over my $450 goal and that goal was based on ... well, nothing. I paid way too much for the new one. I mean it was a whole lot to spend on a frivolous toy but this helps.

Very nice. I love ebay success stories. I wonder if I have anything around here that I could sell and actually make money in the process.

Do your best to document the condition of the computer as you send it. I've heard of one recent eBay scam where a buyer will put a big scratch, ding, break etc... on some external part of a computer and then turn around and hit the seller through paypal (which then hits the seller for the money).

BTW, thanks for sending me the Treo a while back, this has been a crazy/not great summer and I kept not sitting down to get back and thank you for it. So thanks, it's been a blast to fiddle with. I'm still not sure I'd want to use it for my main phone (only because my main phones rarely last a full year), but it's been cool using it on a spare line we have and getting to try it out in the field instead of just in the store.

Oh, and while I'm on the subject of thanks, thanks for mentioning your problems with amazon's 3 month trial of amazon prime. After I read your post I checked my tiral membership and since it was almost up I kept an eye on it. Sure enough a week later when it was expiring, there was no notification from amazon about it so I went ahead and cancelled it since they didn't keep up their end of the deal. I'd been waffling about it since I really did take advantage of it big time, but I wasn't too happy about not getting notified about it ahead of time so bye bye amazon prime.

Frivolous Toy? No such thing exists. If it makes you happy or even keeps you occupied for 15 minutes, it is worth it. At least that is what I tell myself.
