The kitchen floor
Sep. 26th, 2006 09:31 amWell, actually the whole kitchen is the only thing left to clean. The laundry is laundrying - clean sheets are on the bed. Work is so far manageable but I'm sure it's going to come out of the woodwork any minute.
My brother has a new piece of remote assistance software that I helped him test out this morning. It's really pretty slick. He sends me a file, I rename it and put it on my desktop and double click on it and fill in my name and address and phone number and click connect and bingo he's got my computer on his screen. It's VPN all dressed up. On my end there's a little timer to show how long we've been connected and there are some cool tricks. He can send a little window that says 'when you come back to the screen, click OK and I'll be here waiting.' It sets off a bell on his end. Plus, he can totally reboot my machine and automagically get the connection right back and the timer doesn't even lose count! I'm sure there are a million of these out there but this one is nice. Plus he says he can pay once and use it on as many machines as he wants AND set it up so clients can start it from his website.
Julie and Scott don't get into the airport until about 9:30 tonight. I'm guessing they have luggage (last time he was here, he was not traveling light) checked. So that will probably put them here about 10:30ish. So, there's plenty of time yet for me to get ready and I'm already pretty ready.
Oh by the way, I got a call from a sales rep from the company that sells my chair. I wrote to their website last weekend asking for instructions on how to set it. He said he didn't know of any written down ones he could send me ????? BUT, he walked me through a couple of things on the phone and it is MUCH better. So all is good.
My skirt blowing client has just risen her ugly head. I need to get her stuff done now so she will go away.
