Ever since I got the new computer, I have had a suspicion that there was some kind of drag on the internet connection. It really shows up with LJ pages. They load a bit faster at work but here on Mom's cable modem, they are just zippy. Even a refresh of my friends' page takes no time at all. I think the machine at home has a problem somewhere between my browser and the phone cord. That should be a joy to uncover. Ugh.

All is fine here. We got the cellphone which was far more of a effort than Mom was willing to expend. I should have gone without her. But, it's done.

She's napping and I think I'll go read my book for a while.

Maybe your browser cache is turned off? Could be any one of a number of different things, though.

That might well be it... I need to find a list of things like 'cache turned off', etc. One test I will probably do first is download Netscape to see if it's a browser issue. Could also be an OS thing. I did not touch the modem or the telephone line so I'm at least fairly confident that the problem is confined to the computer. I hope.
