Glaxal Smith Kline has this stupid TV commercial for their overpriced osteoporosis drug. It's one pill you take once a month. Apparently, from the commercial, that is THE only differentiation between it and the more reasonably priced alternatives that you take more often.

The entire commecial is Sally Field addressing the camera in a sincerity that should be reserved for telling someone their cancer is terminal and explaining what a difference this drug has made for her friends who cannot remember a pill every day - now they only have to remember once a month. It is the only point of the entire commercial making both the message and the delivery outstandingly ridiculous.

[livejournal.com profile] vetch has a very legitimate I Don't Live In The U.S. excuse, but [livejournal.com profile] pheon and [livejournal.com profile] estis?? You guys are not watching enough TV. Seriously.

The ironic thing to me about that crap is, it's much easier to remember something you do every day than something you do once a month, in my experience....

That's just retarded. Once a month is way harder to remember than daily, and besides, there's a lot of ladies would be quite used to taking a pill a day by the time they got around to having osteoporosis. I wonder if anyone actually goes for it...

Well I don't have cable so maybe that is the reason. Tho' I have seen smiling Bob walking around with a woodie a lot.

Well, like [livejournal.com profile] estis, I don't have cable. And I never watch TV seriously. Only non-seriously.

Well, me too -- I didn't ask, because so many other people had that I figured you'd explain anyway.

I watch a fair amount of TV, but except for sports events it's all TiVo's, which means that I don't see the ads. This ad has not run during a baseball game or a Patriots game that I've seen.

And yes, it seems like complete nonsense. Her friends could each get one of those little weekly pill racks.

And I already have enough Sally field in my life, anyway.
