Not fair

I am beginning to admire the skills and smarts that must be possessed by people who commit prescription drug fraud.  I don't know how in the world they pull it off.  I can hardly get my hands on the drugs I'm supposed to be taking.  I'm sure blood pressure and cholesterol lowering pills are hot sellers on the street but still...

So I'm running low on two of the 4 pills I'm now taking every day.  The potassium thing and the cholesterol thing.  Early last week I clicked on the 'switch from retail to mail order' on my insurance company's website.

Last time I did this, it was one click, one email and drugs in the mail about 6 days later - cheaper and with no shipping charges.

This time ... not so easy.  First a I get an email last Friday night telling me that I need to contact my doctor's office within 24 hours because he has not responded to their inquiry.  Yeah, like that's going to happen.  I checked this morning and still no action so I called the automated drug reorder line at the Drugstore-I-Swore-I-Would-Not-Use-Again and reordered both drugs.  The automated lady said I could come get them after 9:30 tomorrow.

Cut to 3 hours later.  I get a phone call from the woman with the attitude (I can tell by her voice) who pisses me off so much when I'm in there.  She says they can't fill my prescription because the mail order people already did.  WTF?  Ok. BUT she very kindly offers to call the mail order people?!  Is she nuts?  Calling the competition when it's not even her fault?  I told her that I'd do it but I thanked her and told her I'd call her back if I had a problem.

The mail order people who have been very nice on the phone, this time had the attitude.  They had one order filled - to be shipped Nov. 20.  November 20????  That's 6 days from NOW!  And the other order they had on hold because the doctor wasn't clear about instructions.  WTF?!

Bitch from Mail Order said that the drug store would give me a 14 day supply.  So I called back my now New Best Friend at the drug store who said that Bitch from Mail Order was smoking crack (not her words exactly) but that she'd call her and knock some sense into her.

15 minutes later, My New Best Friend called to say my drugs were ready for pick up.

So... guess I'll be running an errand later today.

Otherwise all is good. It's a great work day - plenty of plain old XML coding to do - easy and interesting and fun and I don't need to talk to a soul.   Plus, I got a lovely simple email - no one copied - just project owner to me thanking me for all the good work I've been doing on her project.  Nice touch.

Back to it...

pssssss if ya wanna score some simvastatin meet me outside of rite-aids say 3ish?

Have you asked your new best friend if her pharmacy delivers prescriptions? Many do apparently, for no charge. When I was NY I dropped a 'script off for Aunt Penguin (she's a nun) and they delivered it in a couple of hours. I gave the lad a buck for his troubles.
