End of testing
Apr. 23rd, 2002 11:13 amWow. Cool. I can now update this journal from wherever I can get cellphone reception.
There is such joy in making hardware and software do stuff. I discovered this when I got my very computer - well, it was just a remote dumb terminal with a 300 baud coupler modem that I could use to 'call up' the mainframe at work. This was 1979 and I spent hours playing with it. There was really not much to do since the mainframe wasn't built to amuse me but connecting to it sure did. One thing it could do and I did was an early IM deal where I could 'talk' to the operators around the world (this was IBM)... I could just key in 'talk operator' and indicate a location where I knew they had a computer room and voila some dude who was probably snoozing at the controls was totally happy to entertain me with some chat.
