The avalanche that didn't
Nov. 28th, 2006 06:23 pmI figured today would be busy crazy and it was not - not even close. We've got one launch Thursday morning and one on Friday morning but I think everything is really done.
So I loaded Bounce Out onto the Lifebook and remembered how to play. I bought it from Gamehouse before Gamehouse was sucked into Real so I have a registered version free of Real crap. I hadn't played in a long time and had forgotten - but, it's like getting back up on the bike.
In effect, I kind of had my own snow day. I did read this afternoon that Microsoft was closed. I rarely have any clue where the people I work with actually are so I don't know if groups I'm working with now were in the office or not. Doesn't matter bit.
It is very cold here tonight - my terrace, which usually registers warmer than reality - is saying it's 28 degrees. It also says that inside - here at this desk - it's 65 degrees and I don't think it's quite that cold.
But, I think a fireplace fire is in order... Oh and for those who want to see it 'live', the new web cam is slated to arrive on Thursday!

Date: 2006-11-29 04:32 pm (UTC)Several years ago I worked for a start up company in an old building in the next block from here ('here' being my condo). I discovered, one day, that Game House was headquartered 2 floors up!!! Our receptionist let me take a mis delivered package up there one day. It was as funky a place as you could imagine. I was working on a plan to get a job there when I found out they had sold out to Real Networks. Then they moved to the other side of town. Sigh.

So, I start at the lower corners first, alternating between right & left, spotting my left moves as the right columns are taking their sweet time to settle into their new places, and vice-a-versa. The advantage here is that the black balls, which *will* move but cannot *be* moved, will then narrow the rest of the field. It's like shooting fish in a skinnier barrel. Also, the time-fuse gets shorter only when the balls aren't in motion -- thus making plays in the lower half of the screen more desirable for the spotting time it allows.
How's that for a start?
