I did get a call back this afternoon from the Business Manager at the ISP. He was nice but pretty much full of shit. He had spent some time with my account and records - he even found a note from years ago when I took a basket of candy and cookies to the office for the support team - they used to be so wonderful.
No way am I ever going to get a refund. He offered me more storage, and some other stuff and even money off next year's bill but would not budge on the refund. He had gone to the Close The Deal school of sales. He kept trying to find out what it would take to keep me as a customer. I kept trying to tell him that as long as he would not give me a refund he had me. I was not a happy customer, no would I be a repeat customer but I am not blowing off $413.63.
Even if their service all of a sudden went from what I got yesterday to a geek under this desk 24/7, I can't see staying around. He kept telling me that things were better now. I gave him the example of the incorrect answer I got to an email just yesterday and he had a lengthy and not at all convincing excuse for that.
It was a long and tiring conversation. While on the phone listening to him not listening to me, I did figure out that if I got a refund today and changed services, it would cost me about $200 to replace the services for the rest of the year so I'm really only out about half but that does suck. Big time.
Next September I'll do the proper research and come up with a better plan. Lessons learned.

Date: 2007-01-04 02:52 am (UTC)I'd like them to refund the money but I agreed to pay for a year of service and I'll honor that agreement. I'd like them to let me off the hook but if they won't, I'm not going to fight it. They do not have to refund the money it would just be nice if they did.
