Interesting finding...
Jan. 9th, 2007 02:51 pmI ended up going to the big Sprint store (the little one has really nice guys 'if you drop it or break it, we're your guys... if you need a new one, you need to go to one of the other stores, sorry'). Fortunately, all the kids who work there were busy with other customers so I had unlimited time to touch and feel and look and compare and since I had more info this time, I knew exactly what I was looking for.
Turns out Sprint does not make a phone for me. I'm too old and I don't consider the 'features' anything I want. Plus they just don't offer what I want in a phone so - it turns out - out of all the bad choices available, the one in my pocket was the least bad one after all. How about that? I'm glad I went and explored and now know. I'll cancel the data service and insurance and my monthly bill will be (comparatively) tiny like the phone.
I noticed on the way home that I was nearly out of gas. Damn that stuff does evaporate. So I pulled into a Shell station near here and nearly got blown away. The wind was really picking up. Coming home I was at a stoplight and I could feel the car rock and the road signs were flapping. I got home and just minutes later it started raining hard. Snow is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow but I know better than to count on that.
I'm on hold right now with iRobot. I suspect they are going to tell me that I need to call Sharper Image. I will. Rooma needs to be replaced. It's sluggish and won't go home. If they won't replace it, it won't be the end of the world, it still vacuums. I just have to go find it when it's done. I figure I'll give replacement a shot before the warranty expires.
Guess I'd better build a few web pages while I hold.

Date: 2007-01-10 01:31 pm (UTC)I want a phone. I want a damned good phone. I do not want a PDA that includes a so-so phone...I have a PDA for my PDA. I do not want a camera that includes a so-so phone...I have a camera for when I need a camera.
But nobody makes a "just a phone" any more.
The reason I went with the Motorola RAZR that I have now is simple...it has the best performance as a phone I've ever had in a phone. It even works in my house (I have steel siding on my house, and in effect live in almost a Faraday Cage) and in Lowes (a steel warehouse), which are both my tests for the performance of any phone. The only extra feature I ever use on the RAZR is I do own a bluetooth headset. My only complaint about the RAZR is I have large hands that sometimes have problems with joint movement, and the RAZR is a small, thin phone.
