Reward for asking nicely!
Jan. 29th, 2007 10:15 pmI thought about moving but my hosting company is good and the few times I've needed help, they've been very helpful. And moving is a pain. But these days 100 MB's is a teeny weeny amount of space.
So I wrote:
In less than an hour I got the following:Dear Tokios,I've come begging. I've been a happy customer now for several years (domain name: susandennis.net). But, times have changed and while you have not raised your prices (thank you) your offering is just no longer competitive. When I signed on with you storage was expensive and now it's cheap.I can get 10 times the storage at a cheaper price.I'd really rather not move which is why I'm writing to you.Is there any chance you could increase my storage to even 500MB at the same price I'm paying now? I don't need more services or databases or email addresses or bandwidth, just storage. If not 500MB, could you at least give me something more than my current 100MB?Thanks, Susan
How cool is that? I honestly did not know what to expect. I was pretty delighted. I sent them a thank you note and told them I would be staying and was a very happy customer. And they sent another note saying they were delighted to hear it.Dear Susan
Thank you for your email.
With reference to your inquiry below, in appreciation of your continued support I have doubled your existing diskspace from 100MB to 200MB and increased your existing data transfer from 2GB to 6GB. This equates to an upgrade from Lite to our Standard hosting plan in terms of resources.
I am aware that our prices are a premium to what you find outside today, but in comparision to other hosters we do not oversell our services and have a below industry average number of accounts per server. The industry standard is to have anywhere from 250-300 accounts per server with a high overselling ratio. But the server you are on currently only has 86 and is highly Undersold. What this translates to is better uptime, more stability and better security.
Please let me know if you have any additional concerns or issues

-Tokios Sales
