Sunday bits

It strikes me as odd that the Superbowl is so late in the day. I thought it was in the afternoons on the east coast.  Clearly I have not been paying attention.  I have only been watching the front door TV channel for an hour this morning and, already, two giant TV's have come to visit/live.  I would NOT like to be an installer of those things this past week.  They will probably all fall into a coma at kick off - if they live that long.

Still playing the DS Lite game only now, I'm going to buy the first black one that comes up for sale  Circuit City had one this morning but I wasn't fast enough.

Today is my friend, Kenny Lu's birthday.  I rarely see him any more but he is on IM so I sent him a little HBD today.  I could tell even over the air that it tickled him to bits that I remembered.  Fun.

The holes in my new salt shaker were just a hair too small for my salt.  So I got out the 1/4th drill that Daddy bought me when I graduated from college and drilled bigger ones.  The cap is rubber so it turned out to be easy peasy.  The hardest part was finding a block of wood to use as a base.  The holes are now fine and dandy.  And I feel very accomplished.

I'm still fighting the AVG reboot bug.  Every other day.  This morning I uninstalled following their instructions to the letter and then wiped out all traces and then reisntalled.  Here's hoping.  We won't know until Tuesday, I'm guessing.

I watched the first of the two DVD's of the first season of Extras.  It was mildly amusing.  I think I'm over Ricky Gervais.  I remember the first time I ever saw him was on Parkinson - I could barely understand him and kept having to rewind but I thought he was funny.  Now I think he's kind of a one trick pony.  It's a good trick but I've seen it.  I'm ready to move on.  I do miss Parkinson since he moved to ITV.  We don't get any of that programming.

On the plus side of BBC America, they are going to start showing Creature Comforts again starting tomorrow!  I've only seen about 3 of them so this will be a treat.

And, that's pretty much all the bits I got for now.

It strikes me as odd that the Superbowl is so late in the day.

The only reason I know that it starts at 6 (well, the 25 minute 'kickoff show' starts then) is that I have to be in my "reserved" seat at the bar by then. Honestly, I thought it started at 8 - cause every time I've gone to a friends house for the game, I've never seemed to get home again before midnight.

I realized that I like Peyton Manning & the Colts enough that I'd actually cheer for them, so this seemed like fun. :) It was the idea of one of the bartenders and I think it's great - I think they mainly offered it to the regulars that come in - otherwise I don't think I'd go up there cause there would definitely be nowhere to sit.

Of course as I was thinking it started at 8 and they're telling me to be there at 6, I was thinking, "Lordy, I'm gonna be passed out before the game even starts."

Maybe he is a one trick pony, but he does the trick so well, and surrounds himself with so many talented assistants, that it's worth watching his efforts...The episode with Daniel Radcliff and Diana Rigg from season/series two of Extras was especially funny. Not to mention, the show is actually growing a bit, becoming more fleshed out.

I bought Extras for Meirion but we havent watched it yet, so I was interested to hear your take on it. I'm kind of hoping now we disagree, but who knows.

I'm assuming you really liked The Office - we did too. (I thought the seaon finale was probably the most brilliant thing I've ever seen on TV.)

those tv installer guys

you kidding? starting tomorrow morning they rev up their trucks to pick up all the TVs that are going to be returned for whatever reason ... "wife says it's too big" ... "wife says we can't afford it" ... etc.

I was getting ready to post basically the same thing. I bet the uninstall crews will be working this week just as hard as the install crews did last week.
