Not one... but two...
Feb. 8th, 2007 08:38 amSo, I've been watching the DS Lite Locator. It always shows private Amazon sales and eBay but once in awhile one of the others pops up with inventory. Last weekend, ToysRUs had some but by the time I completed my order, they were out again. Circuit City had some the other day, but same deal. I clicked on 'buy', then went to find Brain Age or Big Brain Academy and by the time I got to Add to Cart, the console was gone.
Last night eToys popped up with a black one and I bought it! Yep. I'm onto their tricks now. I got to 'complete my order' and hit the button. Whew. And then I went to see if they had either of the games. I figured I'd do a little comparison shopping. Maybe get a bundle somewhere.
Lo and behold, they have a Blue DS Lite!! Blue is what I really wanted but figured I'd never ever find. By dern it. I bought it, too! I figure I can eBay the black one at a buy it now price that will cover my all my costs.
And, yeah, I would not be nearly as interested if there were a pile of these on the shelf at Target. It's like a hunt for a rare book or antique! I'm not going to breathe easy until I see the tracking number, however.
----------------------------
Work is winding up and while it winds, I'm not so busy. That could change any minute so making long term plans isn't such a good idea but, I do have a plan for today. The kitchen. I have plenty of cupboard and drawer space but the way it's organized, I have no place to put anything!!
So today everything comes out and then we're going to have a purge. I do NOT need 18 dinner plates. There is not going to be a dinner party here. I do NOT need 24 iced tea glasses. Etc. Lookout Goodwill, here I come.
I thought about taking pictures and measurements and heading over to the Storables store but I think I'm going to take everything out, purge and put it back and then see what kind of storables I might need.
---------------------------
My anti-virus software which makes me reboot every other day surprised me this morning by not doing that. hmmmm I was into the rhythm and now, who knows.
---------------------------
I wish it had been one of the white guy astronauts who went whacko.

Date: 2007-02-08 04:57 pm (UTC)All told I probably have a few hundred dinner plates. Wait, could that be true? Um, yeah, since the 1930s and 1940s sets had both 9 and 10 inch sizes so I'm counting both. Ok, maybe 200. Um, at least.
On the other hand, just the other night I needed 14 7-inch plates and 14 glasses to serve beer, plus basic bowls and plates for a light dinner for four in advance of the Morris team annual meeting for which I needed thos plates and glasses. And what if 200 people had shown up?
Cripes.
On the other hand, I admit that having 9 or 10 sets of vintage dinnerware (some in service for 20) is not about what I need.

Date: 2007-02-08 05:11 pm (UTC)I clicked on the locator and it bought up a page for buying in England.
My daughter in law has one. I like it. I want one :-)
My/our purge of the day was to drag the cooker out for painting of the walls. In over 20 years we've painted around it. I don't have to tell you how many cobwebs there were! I may have a photo

Date: 2007-02-08 08:32 pm (UTC)I have never touched a DS Lite in my life and have no clue how good the games are. I'll report when mine comes in!
So far my new computer ordering experience has been email to bro. His guy is building out one now for a customer that my brother thinks will be a good one for me so when he's done, he's going to send the specs and we'll go from there.

Date: 2007-02-08 08:35 pm (UTC)I guess in my unobservant way, I missed the game thing. I know about the puzzles etc, but didn't really relate to the games I guess.
