This just in from my brother...

We just got back into the house after having been evacuated. Fortunately no smoke in the house and no damage. We had to stay across the highway and watch all the fire trucks and fire helicopter. Boy I would have been pissed after everything and it got burned down. Thought you'd like to hear from some refugees. b

Seriously, good to hear he's OK - those brush fires can be so flippin' scary cause they can get out of control so fast.

Oh man, you and I are so on the same page! Yes, FedEx's website says they have the computer.

Plus, he lives about 20 mins from the shop but I guess now I should worry about if his shop might burn up. I cannot imagine how horrible it would be to stand across the street and watch your brand new house almost burn up.

Yeah, that would totally suck - an acquaintance of mine recently had a house in his neighborhood burn down and it shook him up quite a bit, and it wasn't even his house.

I can help you fill in the blanks - I did exactly that. Stood acrosss the street and watched my house burn down. Except mine was 10 years old. Not sure that makes any difference, though.

Actually, watching 10 years go up in smoke is probably worse. Horrible.

No fires in my section of Austin, but you sure could smell the smoke on the breeze.

Glad your brother is OK. I just watched a report on the news and some lawns burned right up to the sides of homes, but somehow didn't cause the structures to burn... thankfully.

I think you mean me, and yes we are all fine and Dandy. We were in Austin today, and noticed it was way windy but didn't smell the smoke where we were.

I've been bitchy today because its snowing and freezing raining again here. But at least neither of those will burn my house down, so I will consider myself lucky...although I'm still going to be bitchy.
