I have my desk pretty much put together and ready for the new box when it comes back from the neonatal  care unit.  I have both the monitors set up like I will probably use them.  But, for now, I'm tidy again.  As far as the eye can see.  Don't even think about looking under the desk.

I hooked up the new monitor which is very nearly exactly like the old monitor, just a couple of years newer. It is way brighter though.  It's going to be disconcerting to have both side by side.  I'm going to have to do some serious tweaking of the settings to get them to match but it's going to be fine.

I think I'll hold off on hooking up the web cams again.

I do need to think about getting speakers for the PC.  I have some but they aren't any good.  I am not that concerned about sound quality - my ear isn't good enough to tell the difference - but I would like a little better than I have.  BUT they absolutely must look good.  Seriously.  Anyone who knows speakers seen any that look nice?  OR anyone know what I need to look for or not look for?

---

I went to the grocery store.  I needed a few things and I got 'em.

I've done more moving around and lifting and toting and moving today than I've done in weeks and weeks.   Oh and I also got some work work done and out of the way.

I got the tax returns (final) for Mom's estate.  It came with a letter from the estate lady saying she would be closing out the estate soon.  I said something to Jeff (the lawyer) when we were signing Sherry and Lee's wills about Mom's estate taking a year to close and he was shocked!  "Did you have to go got court?  Was it contested?  What in the hell took so long???!!"  My questions exactly.  Mom died on March 17.  If Ms. Estate Lady gets her fast on, should could come under a year. I'm guessing she won't since she hasn't so far.  I just want it to be OVER!

Tonight is going to be teddy bears and TV.

Is your new monitor a dell? Does it have the usb ports in it like the old one?

When do you use two separate monitors? (Probably a stupid question)

Oh, I'm glad you brought up the speakers issue. Mine suck. I think they were purchased at a garage sale for 60 cents twelve years ago. Only one works. I'll be interested to know what you choose, and how you decided.

Meanwhile, your computer saga has touched a nerve or two. Like you, I hate to be presumed stupid!

I have a Dell 17" flat panel (about 3 yrs old) and have a speaker bar that clips to the bottom of the monitor. Like you, my ears are not that picky. CDs sound fine to me and I love the no clutter no mess of separate speakers and wires. We just got a new system at work and also got the speaker bar so I know its still available - only about $30 I think. It is a little less than the width of the monitor and about 1.5 inches deep - verrry unobtrusive.
