I can't believe it is Wednesday already.  I feel like whole weeks, recently, just fly right by me.

Last night I got to thinking about my computer setup and decided that the smart money would be to run the two desktop - the XP and the Vista - side by side for a while.  I can connect the Vista to the DSL modem and use the USB wireless adapter to hook up the XP to the internet.

The only thing I can't test/use would be the dual monitors on the Vista so this morning it was off to the used PC store for a KVM switch.

Our used PC store - RePC - is one of the coolest things ever.  1st of all, it is less than a mile from here which makes it so handy.  In the early days they used to repair PC's out of that location, too but they moved the repair bit a few years ago.  The shop here is really exactly like what your average geek's garage looks like IF that geek has unlimited space and a fairly decent label maker.

There are long tables of big bins of stuff.  A whole bin of serial mice!  Parts and bits and pieces - a giant room full.  Plus, there is a whole section of the room that is the As Is.  Big pieces/little pieces, all pretty well marked as to what might be missing and/or not working...  On one monitor was the note "comes on briefly and then on picture".

I bought a nice black PS/2 keyboard and a nice PS/2 wheel mouse for a buck each and a simple KVM switch for $10.

I do love wandering around the place.  They had lots of nice, pretty iMacs.  A jewelery makers would have an orgasm over the tables with the small bits.  One table has a bin that is about 4 feet wide, 4 feet long and about a foot deep full of used mother boards.

It's a very cool place.

Way way down the road is another wonderland - the Boeing Surplus Store.  They have everything from airplane seats to Bic pens.  Plus computer stuff.  Fortunately it is way too far away and way too hard to get to and with such limited hours that I very rarely get there.  I don't need junk.  But I do love it.
