susandennisSo this morning I wake up and discover the Vista machine has no internet access. Hmmmm modem light is on. Ethernet cable attached. Wireless network is working. Internet light just as green and steady as can be. Actiontec status screen says all is honky dory. Fuck.
Old desktop's got nothing. Ping is a dud on everything. Reboot the modem. No change.
Hook the laptop up to my neighbor's (the Linksys's) open network (which is showing a way low signal strength but working like a champ - thank you, neighbors!!!), and call my ISP. I figure I'll leave 'em a message for whenever they sullly forth.
Ah ha! and thankfully, they have left me a message on their greeting that they know there is a problem and they are on it. About 10 minutes later, I hearnt's wav telling me there is mail on the Vista machine. We have connection. Whew!
And... happy Monday!
Work promises to be tres tres this week. There are several really poorly managed projects going on for which I am the tail end. I talked to my boss last night and he was really gracious and sympathetic. It helps that he understands. He's hired a new project manager and, hopefully, things will get better. And he let me know that he'll counsel the one who's making me crazy. So I'm taking a chill pill and just doing the best I can with whatever shit comes down the pipeline.

gavin helped me figure out how to make it perfectly. Thank you, sir.
Oh and Sider Solitaire on Vista? is really funky. It looks and sounds and feels different. Kind of surreal. But I likey..
