I have a new favorite online tech vendor.  www.directron.com - they have a good variety of stuff.  Good prices.  They don't make you register.  I'm not even sure you can.  (I just checked and you can.)  They offer several USPS options.  I ordered from them on Thursday.  I selected USPS Priority Mail.  I got it today.  (And the guy brought it right up here to my door instead of leaving it in the package closet in the garage where I might not look.) I'm very liking that.

My next order is likely going to be a Netgear WG111 USB wireless adapter.  This morning my stupid ISP dropped the internet again.  I'm actually not so bothered by that as much as I am by the total lack of service of this outfit.  They have a really condescending voice message/telephone tree deal that is the ONLY way you can get them by telephone. It's maddening.

But, this morning when I was off line with the Vista machine, I noticed the work laptop just rolled right over to the neighbor's connection.  My old desktop is currently connected to the internet via one of the Netgear adapter's.  And it works fine.  So I'm thinking I'll get one for the Vista machine and when the stupid ISP goes down again, I won't have to.

First I want to test it out.  Netgear has Vista drivers so I'll need to install those and make sure it works.  Assuming it does, I'll order me up another one.

I got nearly all my errands done today.  I did not get to Target but I got the rest.  In my new shoes.  By the time I got home I was ready to take them off but it was a good test.

I killed most of today figuring out the new toy that the postal carrier brought me.

I got it all loaded up with good tunes and my NPR stations preset for the audio.  It was not easy as the instructions were a really bad translation but I persevered.  And I do like it. Plug it right into the USB on the side of the monitor and I can easily see when the battery is charged and filling it is no different than storing files on a thumb drive.  Simple city.

Dinner time here.
