I did my usual - 25 at 25 and the exercises - still not the most that Jerome wants me to do.  I think we're going to have to come up with a more appealing routine.  I think I want more machines.  I was watching a woman today as she went from machine to machine and it looked interesting.  Wonder why he's avoiding me on the machines.  I like the one he did give me.  We shall discuss on Monday.

We set up for Monday at 3 and after I got home, I realized that 3 wasn't the best.  The Mariners season opener is at 3:30 and I have a conference call from 2-3.  So I left him a message asking if there wasn't a better time.  He picked 1:15 which is not great but better.  This will be our first paid session.   He charges $55 an hour.  He was uncomfortable talking money and said he would only charge me half that.  I think, probably, we will take about a half our and I'll pay him $35.  Cash.  I think that's fair and will work fine.

I did try a different treadmill for the last 10 minutes.  There are six treadmills.  3 are the track kind - little lights that go around a track on the display.  1 is real different and I don't know what it does and I've never seen anyone on it.  And 2 are the regular ones.  I'm good on the regulars but I got tempted by the track one.  I gave it 10 mins. I'm over it.

The yakkety yak grunt guy was there when I first got there.  He was chewing the ear off the guy at the reception counter and then he came back and did one machine for a very loud grunt/count of 5 starting with 5 which cracked me up and then he left.

If I get on the treadmill and start at minute 15 and go for 25 can I count that as 40 minutes?  I totally did no know that!!

I'm not sure if the machines are like those at the gym I go to, but if they are, they generally just isolate one muscle and work it, whereas the exercises make you use quite a few muscles at one time, stabilizers for balance and so on... so basically with the exercises you're getting more muscle working value packed into the same amount of time.

Not to say that the machines aren't fun and don't do anything, they still are good in many ways, but my guess is Jerome's a pretty good trainer and giving you the better exercises rather than just palming you off onto the machines. Definitely give them a whirl - I'm sure he'll be able to suggest which ones are best.
