The fucking estate
Apr. 2nd, 2007 09:10 amHaving not heard one single word from the estate people for more than six weeks when I received the tax return with a note saying 'this should enable us to close out the estate,' I finally sent an email last night that said:
What in the world is preventing Mom’s estate from being closed? This morning I get a note that says she's Fedexing the closing documents that require my signature and then she has to file those with the court and then the court will issue a Certificate of Discharge. She gives no clue how long this will take. I don't know if it's a month, a week, a year or... like the rest of this process fucking never!!!Would you please send me a detailed list of everything left to do and a scheduled by which these things will be completed.
Thanks, Susan
On the up side, we are no longer paying or owe these people anything more for the handling of the estate. On the down side we are no longer paying or owe these people anything for the handling of estate so what would motivate them to end it? I would think getting me off their backs would be motivation enough but maybe not.
Fuck.
p.s. I'm sure Fedex will fuck up the delivery and I'll have to go fish it out of their customer service window on the other side of town.
p.s.s. And, here's the kicker... what difference does it really make? Everything has been disbursed and settled. There is no good reason except I want it o v e r.

Date: 2007-04-02 04:26 pm (UTC)We have *one* account where they're being fucktards. The court qualification letter (ie, "you are executor/administrator") clearly has NO expiration date, and yet they want one dated within the last 6 months. Apparently the court is used to this as all we had to do was send them a letter and they're reprinting some with a new date.
The other account that claimed the letter needed to be dated within a certain period of time just let it fly right through - possibly cause I wrote in the cover letter, THIS DOES NOT EXPIRE.
