Mystery solved
Apr. 3rd, 2007 08:05 pmI have Office 2007 on this Vista computer. I noticed early on that the search did not work. It would not return any results at all. Searching for 'a' returned 'no items found'. It was making me nuts.
This weekend I finally decided to figure out what the problem was. I discovered that many people are having trouble with Outlook 2007 search. And there are several Microsoft Knowledge Base articles with solutions. And tips and tricks at various websites and not one single one of them worked. None. I finally posted a notice on the Microsoft newsgroup for Outlook. Nothing. My little entry just languished alone and unloved.
Tonight, I did an Office repair. No joy.
Then I read some forum entry that said the Vista index did not fix the problem. I had not even looked at Vista index so I did. And looked at Advanced. And discovered that of the bazillion and a half file extensions that Vista was indexing, .pst was NOT ONE OF THEM!!! What the hell??? What kind of default action is that???
I check it and bingo... now I get a little message that says "Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed." Thank you very much! Whew. What a stupid pet trick. Oh well.
The Mariners are ahead in the 4th. I love this season so far!

#2 what I did, DID work for me
So... your mileage, indeed, may vary.
And, Dave, don't tell me or my readers what to do. Feel free to explain and even suggest, but really, you are not the boss of us.
