Weep and wail agogo
Apr. 5th, 2007 02:49 pmHis voice caught my attention first. It was so rich it was nearly fattening. The Costco guy - clearly a friend - was asking him 'is this all for you today?' and Rich Voice was saying 'yeah, that's all I need today - we've got Moma Sally's funeral today'. I looked up and in his basket was a crate of Klenex boxes. I think there are 24 boxes of well, not Klexex but the Costco store brand anyway.
And he was dressed for it, too. He had on a beautiful long black overcoat with a giant campaign style button with Moma Sally's photo on it and her birth and death dates. A crisp white shirt with a beautiful bold striped tie tucked into his charcoal gray suit. He was fascinating to watch as he chatted and laughed with his Costco friend and the cashier.
I seriously wanted to find out the details on Moma Sally's funeral. Based on him alone, it looked like it could be a great time.
But, I just got my meat and split. I stopped at the fabric store on the way home and picked up the makin's for my custom gym bag that I've been designing in my brain. It will have places for all the necessities - my keys, the water bottle, cash, my note cards and pen, my chapstick, Klenex and headphones. I think it will be a nice little weekend project.
No baseball game today. We got smashed to bits last night BUT we won two games in a row against Oakland before that and that's something we haven't seen in a whole long time... So tonight will be TiVo Catchup Night.
But for now, break time is over... it's back to work!
