Security curiousity
Apr. 9th, 2007 09:21 amI discovered that my AVG virus protection was hijacking a cookie when I tried to apply for a Citi credit card. AVG technical support said to contact the credit card company. I sent a 'wrong answer, try again' response to them and then tried it on my work computer .
The work computer was stopped by the AVG on the desktop! Which I thought was very interesting since, at the time, both are connected to the internet wirelessly via the DSL modem. How did the laptop even know about the AVG on the desktop? (It uses an entirely different virus protection system.)
So, I got my little Fujistu Lifebook and
1. Set a restore point (no dummy here)
2. Turned off the AVG protection on it.
3. Connected up to my neighbor's network.
4. Applied for the credit card - took nearly no time and worked perfectly the first time.
Then I refired up AVG and reconnected to my own network. Very confusing but at least I got the credit card applied for.

Will the Mariners ever get to play baseball again? Who the fuck knows? Today's games which had been postponed from yesterday which had been postponed from Saturday after Friday's game was snowed out before it got to be an official game... have been canceled.
Tomorrow, we'll be testing the snow in Boston. This is getting really really old.
