No cheating today.  Yesterday had me worried a little.  Was I losing my incentive, my enthusiasm?

But, no.  Clearly not.  Today was better than average.  One thing I figured out was that changing speeds on the treadmill every 5 or 10 minutes had turned me into a clock watcher.  Every minute is 10 times longer for a clock watcher no matter what you are doing.

So today, I hopped on - set it for 30 minutes at 2.7 and got to walkin'.  I made a deal with myself that I would only look at the clock when I absolutely had to.  When I hit what I thought was 5 minutes, I decided to peek.  11.27.  Ha!  So much for my ability to judge.  So no more clock watching for me.

I did my stretches and all of the reps of my exercises.

Star me, baby!

Sweet!

One of the stationary bikes in the workout room at work has a 'programmable' setting. I wonder if they have any treadmills that have it? So you could tell it to do 5 at one setting, 5 at another, etc. - but you wouldn't be clock watching; it would do the work (tho' you would know when you hit the transitions, obviously).

Probably doesn't matter much anyway, just a thought that wandered through my mind!

Sometimes I have an off day here and there where I just don't quite have the same sort of energy and it all feels like too much hard work BUT a while back I read an autobiography of Arnold Schwarzenegger and he was occasionally having that same problem when he was training in the early days in Austria. That made me feel a whole lot better. :-) Glad you're back on form.

As for the clockwatching, I never really found a solution for it. Some of the machines can be programmed to finish after a certain time, but it still doesn't stop me checking how many minutes to go.

Be sure to post on it if you figure it out!
