So the President of our condo board - my lawyer, Jeff - is at the front door having a very jovial conversation with Scott, the building manager. Scott's showing him the MLS lock boxes - must be something new about it. From my camera angle, I can't see the actual arrangement but periodically Scott is holding up one of the current two boxes and they are laughing.
Jeff does not live here. He owns his office which is on the first floor and is one of the 6 or 7 retail units in the building. He's been the board president for a couple of years and done a fabulous job. It's a thankless task, except I try to thank him a lot. I wish he'd stay president forever.
This is my morning on Front Door TV. I love it.

It's time to buy a new washer/dryer. My 15 year old never-very-good stackable units are just getting tired and they need to be replaced. I'm not too excited about the prospect. We have one large, local appliance retailer... the ubiquitous Lowes and Home Depot... Sears and one dealer who I think pretty much majors in high end stuff. Oh and then Best Buy. I hate all of them. And I don't know enough about (or care enough about) appliances to fuck with it. But I will.
I did find some energy saving stuff on the City of Seattle website. I guess that's a start. Three of the places are semi near by. I guess I'll start there probably sometime this week.

A couple of hours ago I got a news alert email that there was some kind of spill on I-90 not far from here. About 30 minutes later I spied 2 helicopters in the sky over what must be that area. Just now a third one chimed in. Oh right, noon news. I'm thinking it's a fascinating spill OR a slow news day.

Ok back to work for me. So far today has been just the kind of work day I like - not too much... not too tricky.. Just a stead stream of 'update this, change that, fix this, add that' to this web page and that one. I have permissions to work on about 25 different websites. Today, so far, I've touched about 7 of them. I do like the variety. This job is just really too good to be true most of the time. I keep thinking that my luck is going to run out any minute but I've been thinking that now for about 18 months and so far so good. Whew.

Date: 2007-04-23 08:22 pm (UTC)Albert Lee pissed me off last year but I might be over it. I just went to another place - Discount Buying Service - and bonded with a salesman over a Frigidaire combo. However... I have model nums so it may be worth a call to AL.
Thanks! Oh and if I decide on the flame decals... I know who to call.

Date: 2007-04-23 09:19 pm (UTC)If I can propose one idea....front loading washer.
They use less water, less soap and (usually) less energy. They rinse clothes better because the clothes aren't ever all sitting in a huge tub of water. Clothes stay bright a bit longer.
Assuming they're price competitive down here. They've been bog standard in places where energy and water are more expensive (Europe, Oz) for years. And here in Canada they're becoming the norm. Our new building just swapped our laundry room (yeah I know, but it was built in the 70s) to mostly front loaders.
[/end sales pitch]
And if you've already got one, or already considered it, tell me to fook awf. :)
