I am convinced now.   If you are breathing, there is no escaping the 24/7 Paris report.  I'm beginning to wonder if even the dead are being terrorized by it.  How in fuck can one silly little girl with no sense and no talent garner so much fascination?  I just got 'breaking news' about her in my email.  I just don't get it.  But I also don't get the fascination with American Idol so I have experience in the clueless arena.

I am so far having a wonderful work day.  I've just pounded through building 15 web pages and they all look lovely and I know the customer will be delighted and annoying emails and phone calls have so far not happened.  Just a good good day.  So far.

I got a letter from IBM yesterday that I am on a list of former employees who's personal information - social security/employment history - was lost.  Apparently it was on a tape that went missing in transfer.  The letter explained what happened and, frankly did a pretty darned good job of it.  They allowed as how they are fairly sure that none of the information is recoverable and/or will be found and used, but just in case, they offered a free (and optional) one year subscription to some identity theft insurance thingie.

In my 15 years at IBM, I routinely wrote just such letters and Q&A's (IBM never did convert to FAQ's). Their standards are high.  I learned how do it well from the best and I'm grateful and pleased to see that the standard is still up there.  It's getting more and more rare these days.  IBM was a great place to learn basic good stuff that I still use every day.   Plus, I was there when their retirement program was still strong.   So strong that even with only 15 years, I'll get a pension that will pay me about $12,000 a year (depending on what age I decide to start it).  Very nice.

One of the condo's in this building sold and one more came on the market this week.   And some guy I do not recognized just rolled a cart into the front lobby with 4 tin tubs filled with ice and drinks.  (seen on Front Door TV Network).  I'm thinking someone forgot to invite me to their party!

"Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton has been taken screaming from a Los Angeles court after being told to return to jail to serve out her sentence."

Heh heh. I'm ducking and running for cover right now... where did I leave my flame resistant overalls? ;-)

is there a number to call on the letter?

Paris is a whiney little bitch. It frustrates me to no end that her sad bawling piece of crap act is "breaking news". Oh God save me. She broke the law, the law sent her to jail. It's not the end of the world. At least the BBC's top story is about the G8 and aid for Africa.

I'm clueless about Paris also. There's more about her in our news today than there is about the wild storms here last night.
