graduation a gogo
Jun. 10th, 2007 09:49 amThis neighborhood is used to crowds. Heck, we've had a Mariner's game at the same time as a Seahawks game. We can deal.
Except with graduations. These people are out of control. And clueless.
There was one yesterday and there are two today. The usual parking entrepreneurs know better than to try and get them to pay for parking in the tiny ancillary "PARK HERE!!!! TODAY!!! ONLY $12 (or $20 or $8 - depending how close)" lots with their flag/sign waving attendants. Graduation people would drive around looking for the last free spot for two semesters before they would actually pay.
And I love the car transfers. Two (usually SUVs) pulled up next to each other - blocking at least one, sometimes, two ways... while kids and adults transfer worldly belongings from one to another. Last night when I came home from getting my Chinese dinner, there was an SUV parked in the driveway to my garage and another parked to block it and yet another angled so that three freaking cars had to move before I could get into my garage! The graduate (in the robe) and the family were moving pillows and clothes and all manner of crap from one to another.
This morning on my walk I saw more of the same. One was parked on the sidewalk next to another and I had to walk out into traffic to get past them. The mother was carrying on about whether they had the frying pan. WTF???
There is at least one and sometimes two graduations every day in Qwest field from now through the middle of next week. I'd better see find where I stashed my patience and tolerance.

Date: 2007-06-10 09:40 pm (UTC)But, seriously folks, I'm the worst person to ask since I just pull into my garage.
I'm guessing your ceremony is at 7. The good news is the Mariners will be out of town and the workers will be mainly gone home and it's not Thursday, Friday, Saturday (big party nights). So you should be able to find a spot.
OR ... You could bite the bullet and pull into the North Kingdome parking lot and pay up...
